Steller Sea Lions on Race Rocks

One thing that often frustrates me is the shots I miss. I miss the point sometimes in realizing that I may never be there again.

The shot taken while on the surface is a poignant reminder of a missed opportunity in perfect conditions. If you look in the background there are quite a number of sea lions on the rocks, inlcuding some big males, which grow to 11 feet, and approach 2500 lbs.

My wife had been bobbing up and down to he surface and was gesturing me to focus my attention on the sea lions on the rocks rather than facing out to the kelp bed. Adimant I would get a winning shot I continued my sojourn. I did get a shot but it was lacklustre. The shots I missed were filming the sea lions up close from underwater in bright sunshine. What an idiot!! When you're in the water make every shot count, examine your subject in as many ways possible, you can always tease a shot, to quote my buddy Trevor Rees.
