Star Trail

The key was getting the north star in the middle of the frame. Admittedly I just finished a few glasses of Champagne before I setup my tripod and then left it on timer to trigger the shutter when dark. I felt lucky with where it ended up. This was my first attempt so I decided to try a one hour exposure @ f8. I am not dissapointed by the results. I expected there to be some light pollution, but in this case it seems to add something to the shot. I was also very surprised to catch a meteor in the frame. If you look left of centre pointing towards four o'clock you can see the outline of it. Photography often has an element of luck in it.
