An active volcanic lake, I was expecting the water to be warm, and it was not. It was quite shallow where we were diving, the current in the lake was wind driven, and it was hard work moving against it. There was gas seeping out of the substrate in many places. The ripples in the sand on the bottom of the lake were like those in a desert, shaped by the wind.
