Armoured Ground Cricket
Armoured Ground Cricket. My wife spotted this beastie at the Olifants River Lookout, They're quite large, its antenna are about 4 inches off the ground. It's about an inch high by two long. Despite their alien appearance they're quite harmless. On a guided walk I had one placed on my hand. We did see them feeding on dead ones, which seemed to be everywhere when you got your eye in. We even saw a Hyena eating dead ones off the road one night. I couldn't help myself, had to try and photograph everything ...
